Murat Karayılan, a senior figure of the terrorist organization PKK in Qandil, made assessments regarding calls for laying down arms on a television channel close to the organization.

Addressing the statements from the AKP and MHP front that "Öcalan should call for laying down arms," Karayılan argued that these calls would not be sufficient on their own.

''THIS BUSINESS CANNOT BE FINISHED WITH A SINGLE CALL''

Karayılan argued that it would not be enough for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to make a statement toward laying down arms, stating, "Let's say Öcalan made a call. Well, can this business be finished with a single call? We are a movement with tens of thousands of armed personnel. This force is not here in exchange for a salary. It is not a structure that will immediately accept it when told 'go home'," he said.

''A VIDEO MESSAGE ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH''

Emphasizing Öcalan's role, Karayılan stated that the process could not be carried out solely through a video or message. Stating that a congress must be convened for the PKK to make a decision on laying down arms, Karayılan claimed that Öcalan must get involved in this process.

''DEM DELEGATION'S VISIT TO İMRALI IS POSITIVE''

Karayılan stated that the DEM Party sending a delegation to İmralı could positively affect the process, saying, "Everyone now understands the necessity of a solution. Such a picture is emerging."

RESPONSE TO BAHÇELİ'S STATEMENTS

Addressing the "lay down arms" calls from the ruling wing, Karayılan claimed that there is "at least a segment of the state" behind the statements of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. "This is not our problem, it is theirs. Those who want Öcalan to speak in Parliament must take steps in this regard. Bahçeli cannot have made this call solely with his own ideas; there is a will behind this," he said.

''ÖCALAN MUST CALL FOR A CONGRESS''

Arguing that Öcalan must get involved in a potential disarmament process, Karayılan said, "The PKK must convene its congress and make a decision. For this, it is important that Öcalan makes a call for a congress. Even if he is not physically present there, his messages can reach the organization," he stated.

Karayılan also claimed that Öcalan should be in a free environment, saying, "A method must be found, whether it is in a free manner, through technical means, or through delegations. What is important here is the development of a persuasion process," he said.

''PRIORITY IS CEASEFIRE''

Stating that the first step in the disarmament process should be a ceasefire, Karayılan argued that no solution process would be possible without this.
