Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe released a statement following his removal from office. Stating that the will of the people has been ignored, Bahçetepe said, "Our municipality has changed hands through a decision made behind closed doors, despite the will of the people."
CHP Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe has been removed from his post following his arrest. In a message addressed to the public, Bahçetepe stated that a mayor who was brought to office by the people with a great democratic success on March 31 has been removed from office through a politically motivated process with no legal basis.
In his statement, Bahçetepe said that he had adopted a fair, transparent, and people-oriented approach to municipal governance since the day he took office, adding, "We reached out to our neighbors in need, prevented waste, and prioritized justice in service. We established an approach that values people."

Emphasizing that he took every step during his term with transparency, Bahçetepe said, "I took protecting the rights of the orphan, respect for hard work, justice, and conscience as my compass. I came to this duty with your trust and your prayers."

In his statement, Bahçetepe also appealed to the conscience of the public, reacting by saying, "But let everyone know that history will not forgive you!"
Stating that he believes the people of Gaziosmanpaşa know justice, conscience, and the truth, Bahçetepe said, "I may not be physically with you today, but I sincerely believe that I have a place in your hearts and minds."
