German President Steinmeier protested in Sirkeci

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu during his visit to Istanbul, the first leg of his official visit.

Steinmeier and IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu met at Sirkeci Station.

As Steinmeier and İmamoğlu exited the station, a group of 50 people staged a protest.

According to journalist Hilmi Hacaloğlu, the group protested Germany as Steinmeier and IMM Mayor İmamoğlu left the station. During the protests, slogans of “Murderer Israel, collaborator Germany” were chanted.

Following the protests, the police intervened very harshly.
