Gökhan Günaydın reveals AKP's plan for IMM

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın reacted to the discussions surrounding the Üsküdar Deputy Mayor election and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) in a statement made at the Parliament.

Criticizing the election process in Üsküdar, which was won by the AKP candidate, Günaydın described the events as a "systematic, planned, coordinated, and organized conspiracy." Arguing that the judiciary and public administration have been "instrumentalized," Günaydın stated that the people of Üsküdar are satisfied with the administration of Mayor Sinem Dedetaş.

"LET'S REPEAT ALL LOCAL ELECTIONS IN TURKEY"

Calling on the government to renew the local elections, Günaydın said, "If you think the will of the citizens in Üsküdar is in your favor, move the local elections forward. Let's repeat all local elections in Turkey. Let's repeat Üsküdar as well."

Stating that they will appeal the election at the Üsküdar Municipality, Günaydın used the expression, "We will all see together what the judiciary, which cancels elections held properly, will say about an election held through a conspiracy."

Speaking harshly in his assessment regarding the IMM, Günaydın argued that the process in Üsküdar serves as a warning for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as well. Günaydın said, "It is clear that the AKP is preparing for whatever the worst-case scenario is that comes to mind."

Noting that there is an "important margin" in favor of the opposition at the IMM, Günaydın said that attempts are being made to erode this margin through transfers and arrests. Günaydın stated, "They are trying to orchestrate a similar scenario over Istanbul. So, what do they need to do for this? They need to make Ekrem İmamoğlu banned from politics and a convicted person."
