According to claims that have resonated in politics in recent days, it was suggested that Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal would resign from the CHP and join the ranks of the AKP. Following these claims, all eyes turned to the CHP Afyonkarahisar Provincial Presidency.

STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FROM THE CHP

In a written statement issued by the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Presidency, it was emphasized that Burcu Köksal took office under the roof of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and with the will of the people. The statement included the following:

"Announcement to the public: It is the most fundamental responsibility of our mayor, who was elected with the will of the people under the roof of the Republican People's Party, to maintain a stance consistent with the trust and expectations of the citizens who support her. We will continue to take a stand in favor of protecting the will expressed by the voters and maintaining the political line represented by the Republican People's Party. We respectfully inform the public that as long as our mayor acts in accordance with the identity of the CHP, the party of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the will entrusted to her by the people, we, as the CHP Afyonkarahisar organizations, will continue to stand by her side."

HOW DID THE AGENDA HEAT UP?

The issue found wide resonance on the agenda after journalist Sinan Burhan, who is close to government circles, shared claims that Burcu Köksal would switch to the AKP. Furthermore, CHP İstanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt also brought up the claim that Burcu Köksal was being "threatened through her spouse" during a television program he attended. Enginyurt addressed Köksal, saying, "My sister Burcu, do not bow to any threats."
