Government warning to DEM Party: 'Turkey's anti-terror laws have not changed!' 'Do not play with the state's nerves'

Deputy Interior Minister Bülent Turan, in his speech at the opening of the Agriculture Fair held in the Bayramiç district of Çanakkale, made evaluations regarding the second reconciliation process called "Terror-Free Turkey."

Stating that Turkey is going through a sensitive period, Turan expressed that there has been no news of martyrs due to terrorism for the last two years. Saying that they want brotherhood to be discussed in the country instead of terrorism, Turan emphasized that the process cannot be carried out unilaterally.

"WE ARE PATIENT BUT NOT IRRESPONSIBLE"

Turan stated that peace requires mutual sensitivity and that discourse and steps that would damage the process should be avoided. "Good things have happened, but peace cannot be one-sided. Acting with narcissistic, egoistic, and selfish attitudes does not suit anyone. We are patient, but we are not irresponsible," he said.

Reacting to the establishment of condolence tents for PKK terrorists in some cities, Turan described this as "exploitation." Stating that condolences can be offered in a timely manner, Turan said, "If there is a condolence, it is on the first day. If not, let it be 3 days, 7 days, 40 days. Can there be condolences after 3 years, 5 years?"

"TURKEY'S ANTI-TERROR LAWS HAVE NOT CHANGED"

Stating that there has been no change in Turkey's counter-terrorism legislation, Turan also opposed the use of photographs and posters belonging to members of the terrorist organization. Turan said, "Turkey's anti-terror laws have not changed. Turkey's current legislation does not allow for the hanging of posters of terrorist leaders in the background."

HE ADDRESSED THE DEM PARTY: "COME TO YOUR SENSES"

Calling on the DEM Party, Turan stated that the process is not limited to just laying down arms, but that the language used is also decisive. Saying, "Laying down arms begins with first laying down the arms in one's language," Turan expressed, "Please do not test the patience of this nation. Please come to your senses. Please do not play with the nerves of this state. Do not play with the sensitivities of this nation. Let us conclude this beautiful process together."
