A split has occurred within the Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH), which was founded by those who left the TKP. Group expelled from TKH holds press conference

In 2014, following internal debates within the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), a group led by Erkan Baş broke away to form the HTKP (People's Communist Party of Turkey). After some time, the HTKP also split in two, and those who left formed the TKH (Communist Movement of Turkey) under the leadership of Aysel Tekerek.

Most recently, a split occurred in the party, which participated in the 2023 general elections and the March 31, 2024, local elections. A video was shared on social media regarding events that took place when the Party Chairman and a group of party members went to the Bakırköy District Office to take possession of materials. The process became public with this video. Both sides issued mutual statements.

In a statement from the TKH Headquarters, it was said; “No attempt aimed at harming and weakening the Communist Movement of Turkey will be successful. In the statement, it was noted that 'individuals whose ties to our party have been definitively severed are making posts on some social media accounts that are contrary to the truth, distorted, and contain manipulation.'”

In a statement from the group calling themselves TKH-Atılım, it was said: “As a result of the discussions that have been going on for about 2 months in the TKH, 36 party members, including members of the Central Committee (MK), the Central Executive Committee (MYK), and the Party Council (PM), were purged via a 'Circular' by the 'Party Center,' which cannot base itself on anything other than the party's formality, and hundreds of party members were effectively purged, and a great wave of liquidation has begun in the TKH.”

SAME PLACE, TWO STATEMENTS

Yesterday, members of both the TKH and the TKH-Atılım Group held two separate press conferences in front of the Kadıköy Süreyya Opera House, one hour apart. In both press conferences, it was stated that “The true will of the party is here right now.”

5 PARTIES BORN FROM TKP

In 2014, a split occurred in the TKP as a result of debates, and a group led by Erkan Baş broke away to form the HTKP (People's Communist Party of Turkey). The group led by Kemal Okuyan and Aydemir Güler founded the Communist Party and continued their political activities. After some time, the HTKP also split in two, and those who left formed the TKH (Communist Movement of Turkey) under the leadership of Aysel Tekerek. During this time, the debate over the name TKP never ended. Later, with a congress held, the TKP was returned to political life by the Güler-Okuyan group.

While the HTKP, led by Erkan Baş, changed its name to the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), another split occurred. The Federation of Idea Clubs (FKF) circle also left the TİP and founded a party called the 'Revolutionary Movement'.

As a result, in 10 years, the KP (current TKP), HTKP (current TİP), TKH, Revolutionary Movement, and finally, with the split of the TKH, the TKH-Atılım group have emerged from the TKP's splitting process.
