Gürsel Tekin crisis in CHP grows: District Chair sent to disciplinary board

Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as trustee to the Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Presidency, has taken a significant step regarding the party's Gaziosmanpaşa District Chair, Yalçın Kızılaslan. Tekin announced that he has referred Kızılaslan to the disciplinary board with a request for "temporary expulsion."

In a written statement issued by the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, it was stated that the criticisms directed at the party's former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu at the Gaziosmanpaşa District headquarters in recent days had caused great discomfort among party members. The statement emphasized that such behavior is contrary to party culture and rules of courtesy.

BEHAVIORS THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH PARTY TRADITION ARE UNACCEPTABLE

In his statement, Tekin included the following remarks:

-"The attitudes and behaviors expressed at the Gaziosmanpaşa District headquarters in recent days, directed at our party's former Chairman Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, which disturbed all our party members and are incompatible with our party culture and devoid of courtesy, have been found absolutely unacceptable by us."

The statement further noted that such attitudes and behaviors are contrary to the institutional ethics and bylaws of the CHP, and that the necessary procedures have been initiated immediately.

"RESPECT MUST BE SHOWN TO PARTY ETHICS"

In the continuation of his statement, Gürsel Tekin made the following remarks:

-"As the Temporary Board of the Istanbul Provincial Presidency, it is clear that such behaviors are incompatible with party ethics, tradition, and our bylaws. For this reason, the necessary procedures regarding the individual in question have been carried out immediately, and the process has been conducted in accordance with the provisions of our bylaws."
