The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance has lifted the preliminary injunction decisions it had previously issued regarding the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress. With this decision, it was stated that the interim duty carried out by Gürsel Tekin and the temporary committee accompanying him by court order has ended.
The court ruled that a copy of the decision be sent to the Istanbul Provincial Election Board, the Sarıyer 1st District Election Board, and the Istanbul Governorship.
In a statement following the decision, Gürsel Tekin acknowledged that the duty they had assumed as a precautionary measure had ended; however, he argued that his duty continues, stating that he was subsequently appointed as provincial chairman by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
Since the decision that brought us to duty as a precautionary measure has been lifted, our duty at this point has ended. Because Kemal Bey subsequently appointed me as provincial chairman, my duty continues in the capacity of an 'appointee'.
In a statement on his social media account regarding the debate over his position within the party, Tekin also used the expressions, "For us, duties are temporary; our responsibility to the Republican People's Party and our struggle are permanent."
On September 2, 2025, the court had suspended the provincial chairman and administration elected at the CHP's 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress held on October 8, 2023, as a precautionary measure. With the same decision, a temporary committee consisting of Gürsel Tekin, Zeki Şen, Hasan Babacan, Müjdat Gürbüz, and Erkan Narsap had been appointed to exercise the powers of the provincial chairmanship and administration.
