Harsh reaction to Murat Bardakçı in the courtroom: 'Are you happy? Your side won'
During the hearing of journalist Fatih Altaylı, who was sentenced to prison in a case involving the alleged threatening of the President, audience members in the courtroom reacted to Murat Bardakçı with the words, 'Are you happy? Your side won.'
Journalist Fatih Altaylı was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison in the case where he was tried for allegedly threatening President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The court also ruled for the continuation of Altaylı's detention.
Altaylı had been detained on June 21, 2025, on charges of "threatening the President" due to examples he gave from Ottoman history during political assessments on his YouTube channel. Altaylı, who was sent to the Marmara Closed Penal Execution Institution after being arrested as part of the ongoing investigation, had been in custody for 158 days.
TENSION IN THE COURTROOM
Tension erupted in the courtroom after the court announced its verdict. It was learned that Altaylı threw the files and papers in his hand into the air in reaction to the sentence handed down.
HARSH REACTION TO BARDAKÇI
Journalist and member of the Presidential Culture and Arts Policy Board, Murat Bardakçı, was present in the courtroom to observe the hearing. Following the verdict, audience members who had come to support Altaylı turned toward Bardakçı and reacted with the words, "Are you happy? Your side won."
