Former Future Party Spokesperson Serkan Özcan announced his resignation on social media on January 14, 2024, expressing his gratitude to Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu.

Most recently, Özcan has become an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Özcan began his duties today.

WHO IS SERKAN ÖZCAN?

Graduating from the Department of Economics at the Middle East Technical University Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1999, Mr. Serkan Özcan worked as a Specialist at the Banking and Financial Institutions General Directorate of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) until 2006. Mr. Özcan, who completed his master's degree in Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States with a scholarship from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, was assigned to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) between 2006 and 2009.

At the BDDK, he conducted studies on monitoring national and international financial developments and their effects on the Turkish financial system. Between 2010 and 2012, he was appointed as Chief Economist at Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası T.A.O. During his time at Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası T.A.O., he also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Vakıf Portföy A.Ş. Serving as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Economic Research and Strategic Planning at Odea Bank A.Ş. between 2012 and 2015, Mr. Özcan founded his own consulting firm at the end of 2015 and served as the General Manager of this company. Mr. Serkan Özcan was among the founders of the Future Party in 2019 and served as the party's Head of Treasury and Finance Policies and as Party Spokesperson, respectively. Özcan is married and a father of 3 children.

Another name appointed as an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is Ece Güner. Güner thanked İmamoğlu in a post she shared on her social media account. In her post, Güner included the following statements:

I would like to thank İBB Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu for honoring me with the duty of "Mayoral Advisor."

We will work VERY hard for the 16 million Istanbulites with our extraordinarily successful and hardworking Mayor.
