Independent Istanbul MP Salim Ensarioğlu evaluated the election results for Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk.

"I HAD STAYED IN IYI PARTY OUT OF RESPECT"

Ensarioğlu made criticisms regarding the IYI Party, from which he resigned.

Ensarioğlu stated, "I had joined the IYI Party because it was supposed to be center-right. I was going to represent conservative Kurds and the center-right there. I have no objections to the relationships, friendship, or respect within the party. There was truly respect and affection. But the party could not settle into the center-right. From time to time, it took one step forward and two steps back, like a mehter march. On the Kurdish issue, it also competed with the MHP, asking 'Are we more nationalist or are they?'" In his statement, he added, "Despite this, I had stayed in the IYI Party out of respect and affection for the people."

SHEIKH SAID STATEMENTS

Ensarioğlu explained the process of being referred to the disciplinary board with a request for expulsion as follows:

"Following my statement regarding Sheikh Said, I was referred to the disciplinary board with a request for expulsion without anyone calling to ask me anything. It was not fitting to refer someone who served as Deputy Chairman for three terms in the True Path Party and three terms in the IYI Party to the disciplinary board. I had not opposed the party's decisions or its bylaws; I had expressed my opinions. My homeland and my flag are very precious to me. I love the Turk, the Kurd, and my state.

They referred me to the disciplinary board. I have served as a minister. I have served as deputy chairman 6 times, 3 times there and 3 times here. They tried to win back the nationalist votes that were leaving through me. I was targeted and referred to the disciplinary board. This man is making a statement about Sheikh Said, and we are referring the great Ensarioğlu, who has even served as a minister, to the disciplinary board. This was not the right thing to do. They wanted to conduct politics through me; this was not the right thing to do."

"CHP IS NOW THE CENTER"

Explaining that 7th Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made a great contribution to the CHP becoming a center party and gathering right-wing votes, Ensarioğlu continued his words as follows:

"I was a politician close to the late Süleyman Demirel. Demirel used to say, 'The fire in the kitchen topples the government.' Something much more interesting happened in this election. Right-wingers and left-wingers voted for the CHP. I knew the CHP would increase its number of municipalities, but I did not think it would become the first party. The CHP has many votes from the center-right, conservative voters, and MHP voters. Right-wingers and left-wingers voted for the CHP. The CHP is now the center. The speeches of Özgür Özel, Mansur Yavaş, and Ekrem İmamoğlu these days are very beautiful. They do not offend anyone; they talk about unity, solidarity, and the Turkey alliance. If they do not accept the CHP as the center, they will be making a mistake. First and foremost, its administrators must accept this."

60 MP CLAIM

Ensarioğlu also described the atmosphere in parliament regarding independent MPs as follows:

"In my opinion, at least 60 MPs will leave their parties and become independent. If a new leader emerges and forms a party, they could gather them. If this does not happen, the MPs will try to join the CHP or the AKP. I do not know how many of them those two parties will take. Because it would be a problem since those parties also have MPs in the electoral districts. But if a new, strong party is formed, it could gather them all. On March 31, the nation gave the CHP a chance. It saw the CHP in the center. It poured into the ballot box, not the streets. As we say 'public order,' the citizen went to the ballot box without causing any incidents. If no infighting breaks out within the CHP, this incoming electorate will remain permanently with the CHP. Özgür Özel, Mansur Bey, and Ekrem Bey have very beautiful speeches. If they continue without fighting and embrace the people who voted for them, they can carry this for two more terms. Frankly, my heart is also with the CHP."
