He had turned off his phones: Mayor who switched from CHP to AKP speaks for the first time
Hasan Ustaoğlu, who was elected Mayor of Konya's Seydişehir district from the CHP, has joined the AKP. Making his first statement regarding his resignation, Ustaoğlu said, "This decision was made entirely for the future of our nation and the development of our city."
Hasan Ustaoğlu, who was elected Mayor of Seydişehir from the CHP in the March 31 local elections, announced that he has joined the AKP. Thus, the Seydişehir Municipality, which had passed to the CHP after 30 years, has returned to the AKP.
Hasan Ustaoğlu's decision to switch to the AKP has been interpreted in connection with ongoing inspector investigations into allegations of irregularities within the municipality. It is alleged that Ustaoğlu took this step to secure his position.
PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN ATTACHED HIS PIN
Following Ustaoğlu's decision to join the AKP, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attached the party pin to Seydişehir Mayor Hasan Ustaoğlu during the MKYK meeting held at the AK Party Headquarters. At the same meeting, Emirgazi Mayor Mesut Mertcan also joined the ranks of the AKP.
In a statement made by the AKP, it was stated, "Unity is growing on the path to a strong Turkey, and heart-centered municipalism is spreading. Seydişehir Mayor Hasan Ustaoğlu and Emirgazi Mayor Mesut Mertcan have joined our AK Party. We welcome our mayors and believe that we will achieve greater services together for our Konya."
FIRST STATEMENT FROM USTAOĞLU
Hasan Ustaoğlu made a statement on his social media account after receiving his pin. Emphasizing that his decision did not stem from personal interest, Ustaoğlu said, "Our only measure in this duty is to provide the best service to our people, our city, and our country. As a brother who loves Seydişehir, I have decided to leave the Republican People's Party and join the ranks of the Justice and Development Party for a stronger service journey."
"WE WILL ACHIEVE GREATER PROJECTS WITH A STRONG POLITICAL WILL"
Stating that his decision was made for the future of the nation and the development of his city, Ustaoğlu said, "Because I know that with unity of service, unity of heart, and a strong political will, Seydişehir will attain greater investments and larger projects."
