HEDEP announces minimum wage demand

HEDEP Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan made assessments regarding the agenda at his party's parliamentary group meeting.

Stating that they have also been working on the minimum wage to be announced for the new year, Bakırhan said, "We have conducted a study with our colleagues regarding the minimum wage. As HEDEP, we say that the lowest minimum wage should be 25 thousand lira, which is half of the poverty line. And we demand that the minimum wage be adjusted regularly every month according to the poverty line. We say, let's pass this legislative proposal of ours through Parliament together," he stated.

HADEP DECISION

Reacting to the Court of Cassation Chief Public Prosecutor's Office not approving the party's short name, HEDEP, on the grounds that it resembles HADEP, Bakırhan said, "Not a day goes by without the government and its partners setting traps for our party! 11 parties were closed, lawsuits were filed. We established new ones in their place. As we grow, the government gets scared. They couldn't find anything, so this time, in a process where we are heading towards local elections, they have become obsessed with HEDEP's name. Because their minds work on nothing but lawlessness.

What is it, apparently the name HEDEP resembles HADEP; is this the first time in Turkey that a party's name resembles a closed one? Furthermore, the emblem is almost the same, of course, since we are the only party the judiciary deals with, they don't see them. But we see the hostile attitude shown towards Kurds and our party," he said.
