Hikmet Çetin explains the reason for his visit to Devlet Bahçeli

Former Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman and former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Hikmet Çetin met with Devlet Bahçeli at the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) headquarters.

No statement was made to the press following the meeting, which lasted approximately one hour.

Following the visit, Çetin answered questions from Ece Üner on Halk TV's main news broadcast. Stating that the meeting took place entirely within the framework of courtesy, Çetin expressed that he thanked Bahçeli for the peace process he is conducting. He also emphasized that the issue of appointing a trustee to the CHP Istanbul provincial administration did not come up during the meeting.

When reminded of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's statements regarding the MHP, Çetin said, "I believe that if the CHP and MHP were to form a coalition, they would be successful."

This statement revealed Çetin's positive views regarding potential cooperation between the two parties.
