CANDIDACY STATEMENT FROM DEĞİRMENCİ
İrfan Değirmenci, who was suggested to be the Workers' Party of Turkey's candidate for İzmir or Çankaya, has issued a statement.
Speaking to gercekizmir.com, Değirmenci said, "The fact that this is being discussed in İzmir makes me very happy. The fact that it is being discussed in other cities also makes me happy. I am a candidate for any position deemed suitable for me, wherever I can grow the struggle of our people."
Answering the question "Is İzmir among the options?", Değirmenci stated, "We have a Party Assembly, as every party does. We will discuss, we will talk. The process is clear; the lists will be submitted to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) by February 20 at the latest. We were actually elected as members of parliament in the general elections; if they had accepted our objections, we had the documents in hand, but the struggle continues. If you have lost once, try again, but fail again, but fail better."
