How long will the TBMM Commission continue? Numan Kurtulmuş speaks out on 'Autonomy' and 'Kurdish'!
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced that the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission will operate until the end of the year. Stating that the sole purpose of the commission is to verify the dissolution of the terrorist organization, Kurtulmuş emphasized that demands such as autonomy or making Kurdish an official language have not been brought to the agenda.
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş answered questions regarding the current agenda. He spoke about the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission established in the TBMM in line with the goal of a "Terror-Free Turkey."
Stating that "the commission has high representative power," Kurtulmuş said, "This is not a commission that will prepare a constitution. No laws or constitutions will be prepared here. What can be done will be prepared and sent to the TBMM. The decision we made at the very establishment of the commission is for it to conclude its work on December 31, 2025. If necessary, it can be extended for two-month periods."
'PROPOSALS ARE COMING'
"In the coming period, representatives from the business world and trade unions will participate. We will invite the names proposed by the significant majority of the commission here," said Kurtulmuş, adding, "We will listen to the demands of some families of martyrs, war veterans, veterans, and those from different security units whom we could not listen to in the coming process. Everyone here is a member of the commission, proposals are coming, and these proposals will mature. But the one that will make the final decision is the TBMM General Assembly. The essential thing is the elimination of all elements behind terrorism and the draining of the swamp that creates terrorism."
Stating that demands such as autonomy and making Kurdish an official language have not been raised in the commission's work, Kurtulmuş said, "In the commission's work, not the slightest demand such as autonomy, independence, a separate region, or making Kurdish an official language has been brought to the agenda. This issue is in no way a personal or political PR matter. If we win this issue, we will win it together. This is a benevolent endeavor. This work must be completed as soon as possible, and for this, the organization must accelerate the process of laying down arms and dissolving itself," he said.
Kurtulmuş continued his words as follows:
"Even if it seems like an ordinary judicial incident, the burning of a white Toros in front of Parliament on the day the commission was to meet and begin its first hearing is surely not a coincidence. If we succeed in establishing a Terror-Free Turkey, without a doubt, that very day, without waiting for the next, a Terror-Free Turkey will open the doors to a Terror-Free Syria as well. A Terror-Free Turkey will, God willing, open the doors to Iraq and other countries in the region where terrorism has been completely eradicated.
I see that with the establishment of this environment of peace, economic, cultural, and even political relations will become much stronger. The reason for the commission's existence is for the organization to declare its dissolution. It is essential that the completion of this process be seen, verified, and registered so that the remaining steps can be taken. I would like to express that I find it correct for everyone to act within the framework of their political responsibilities. This is a national and historical issue for Turkey. If we can fulfill this, it will be a great responsibility we have fulfilled toward future generations."
