HÜDA PAR's workshop in Diyarbakır sparks crisis: 'Betrayal' remark from the Palace
The "Humanitarian Solution Workshop for the Kurdish Issue" organized by HÜDA PAR in Diyarbakır has sparked major controversy. Chief Advisor to the President Mehmet Uçum reacted harshly to the workshop's final declaration, using the term "betrayal." Former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner responded to Uçum, who had been criticized for attending the workshop.
A "Humanitarian Solution Workshop for the Kurdish Issue" was organized by HÜDA PAR in Diyarbakır. The workshop's final declaration drew attention.
In summary, the final declaration included the following statements: "All obstacles to education in the mother tongue must be removed, Kurdish must be granted constitutional protection, the mistakes made during the previous solution process must not be repeated, the coup constitution, which is a product of the Kemalist mentality that forms the source of the Kurdish issue, must be changed, and the definition that everyone bound to the Republic of Turkey by the bond of citizenship is Turkish must be abandoned."
UÇUM CALLED IT BETRAYAL, METİNER RESPONDED
Chief Advisor to the President Mehmet Uçum interpreted the HÜDA PAR workshop, which was also attended by AKP figures, as a 'betrayal.' Uçum stated, "Betrayals against the goal of a Turkey without terrorism are increasing brazenly."

Uçum's statement on his X account is as follows:
"One effect of the State Initiative, which was activated with the moves of Mr. Bahçeli and the approaches of President Erdoğan on October 1st and thereafter, is that all supporters of the imperialist partition project are being exposed one by one.
Those who exploit the new period initiated to eradicate the terror problem from its roots have reached the peak of insolence.
Those who hold a so-called humanitarian solution workshop by referencing the imperialist foreign Kurdish issue project aimed at dividing Turkey have clearly and brazenly declared with their final declaration that they are in favor of the division of Turkey.
This group, which cannot say 'terror' and cannot oppose the terrorist organization, has revealed their hostility toward Turkey and their intentions for partition by talking about two nations, two citizenships, two languages of education, and even two official languages and two countries.
This 'partition solution workshop,' which includes those who hate the People's Alliance and those who appear to be AKP members, but which is certainly not humanitarian, is a betrayal of the new period initiated for a Turkey without terrorism.
Moreover, their efforts to produce a basis for this partition project by exploiting Islam as a reference, and their hostility toward the foundations of the Republic, are pure baseness.
Whatever you do, a Turkey without terrorism will be realized unconditionally, without bargaining.
When a Turkey without terrorism is achieved, no one will be able to open the foundations of the National State—the Republic, the Unitary Structure, the Turkish Nation, Turkish Citizenship, the Turkish language, the Turkish Flag, and the National Anthem—to debate.
It is not anyone's place to open the National State won by the Republic to debate and create a survival problem. This will never be allowed. On the contrary, a Turkey without terrorism will ensure that steps are taken to further strengthen the National State and will strengthen our patriotic democracy."

"I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE WHO APPEAR TO BE AKP MEMBERS"
Former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner, who attended the workshop and gave a presentation, responded to Uçum without naming him. In his statement titled "My response to those certain people," Metiner said, "I am an AKP member; I am not one of those who appear to be AKP members."
Metiner's response is as follows:
"I am an AKP member who defends exactly what our Leader and our AKP say within the framework of our founding spirit and mission on every platform I attend. In the paper I presented at the workshop organized by HÜDA PAR in Diyarbakır, I summarized the thoughts I have defended in my columns and on screen until today. Those who are curious can obtain and read my paper.
The nation-state paradigm that the Republican People's Party (CHP) ruling elites imported from the West is by no means a national state paradigm suitable for our creed and historical experience. Criticizing the Jacobin secularist understanding that accompanies the nation-state paradigm that produces problems does not mean opposing the foundations of the Republic or the national state.
Then let us all adopt the CHP ideology and be done with it. There is no need for other parties or other pursuits. Is this what those certain people, those who appear to be AKP members, are suggesting to us? The AKP is not a party that takes the ideology and sacred values of the CHP as its basis. But it is a republican and democratic party to the end.
In that paper, I stated that I find the definition of the 'Kurdish issue' wrong, and I emphasized that the understanding of one state, one nation, one flag, and one homeland is suitable for our creed and historical experience. I particularly reminded that ethnic-based demands for federation and autonomy would ultimately lead us to partition, and that we must abandon such understandings and demands that will harm our brotherhood and unity.
In this context, I loudly emphasized that our official language and language of education should be one, that is, our beloved Turkish, and that our other languages should be positioned as functional actors in public life, just like languages accepted in officialdom, and that learning and teaching of mother tongues should be taken as the basis instead of education in the mother tongue.
Again in this context, I stated that it is extremely wrong to divide and define our cities as Turkish or Kurdish, and I particularly reminded that we must transform the understanding of 'We are both Turkish, we are both Kurdish, we are both Arab; we are Turkey together!' into a unifying project.
I openly and wholeheartedly called the terrorist organization a terrorist organization and criticized it. I called on the terrorist organization to lay down its arms unconditionally within the framework envisioned by Mr. Bahçeli.
I emphasized that the issue that some in Turkey call the 'Kurdish issue' has been solved by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the leader of the political movement I am honored to be a member of.
I emphasized that the support Bahçeli offered to Erdoğan's leadership is an opportunity that should not be missed for the Kurds, and I said that leaving the call made by the wise leader of the MHP unanswered actually means betrayal of the Kurds.
Reminding that our President and Mr. Bahçeli have emphasized that there is no issue that cannot be solved if arms are laid down unconditionally, I importantly reminded that we need a unifying language and a new paradigm suitable for it that will build a peace process that will benefit everyone.
On the basis of this understanding, I called for building the Century of Turkey together with an understanding of Islamic brotherhood and democratic citizenship. I also importantly reminded that anything else would cause the Kurds to lose first and foremost. I will publish this paper of mine in my column in Yeni Şafak starting from Tuesday, without changing a single dot or comma. We are not people who speak one way here and another way there.
What I say in Diyarbakır and what I write in my column or say on screen are never the opposite of each other. Let those who are waiting in ambush not try to confuse us with themselves or others. Let them not resort to the cunning of killing several birds with one stone by taking advantage of the opportunity.
Finally, let me state: I do not approve of the language in the workshop's final declaration. I reject some of the definitions and some of the demands made there because I find them contrary to my understanding. Just as I reject the language and understanding that accuses everyone who attends that workshop of being Kurdish-separatist. Have some conscience!"
