Hüseyin Baş's request regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu and Fatih Altaylı remains unanswered
Independent Turkey Party (BTP) Chairman Hüseyin Baş's request to visit Ekrem İmamoğlu and Fatih Altaylı, who are being held in Silivri Prison, has been rejected by the Ministry of Justice.
Independent Turkey Party (BTP) Chairman Hüseyin Baş applied to the Ministry of Justice to visit CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and journalist Fatih Altaylı, who are being held in Silivri Prison. However, he did not receive a positive response to these requests.
When Baş did not receive a response to his first application, he applied again on July 24, 2025, with a second petition updating the visit dates. However, this application was also not accepted by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç. Hüseyin Baş announced this situation on social media with the words, "Perhaps our request was caught in bureaucracy and was not conveyed. Let us convey it from here as well. To the attention of Minister Yılmaz Tunç."
NO RESPONSE TO VISIT REQUEST
In the statement made by the BTP, it was stated that Baş applied to the Ministry of Justice on July 14, 2025, and requested permission to visit on July 22, 2025, or, if deemed appropriate, on July 23, 24, or 25. However, it was stated that despite the specified dates passing, no permission was granted and no written response was received.
In the meetings held with the Ministry of Justice, information was shared that the request had been submitted to Minister Yılmaz Tunç but that no decision had been made yet. As of 17:00 on Friday, July 25, 2025, it was reported that no permission had been issued by the Ministry and no written response had been received.
