After the AKP announced the name of Murat Kurum as its IMM mayoral candidate, Özkan made striking posts. This time, he shared a recent photograph of Atatürk Airport, which was said to be turned into a Millet Garden but remains in a derelict state despite a long time having passed, on his social media account and took a jab at the then-Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum.

Sharing the photograph of the airport, which is now only on the agenda with its unusable runways and construction images, İbrahim Özkan added the following note to this post;

"Mr. Murat Kurum, the minister responsible for Atatürk Airport reaching this state, is surely wondering about the response to this project among the people of Istanbul"
