Imamoglu crisis in the Future Party? Provincial Chair resigns

It has been alleged that Future Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Ali Rıza Abdik was dismissed from his post after going to the Çağlayan Courthouse to support Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. According to the claims, this decision was made personally by Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu.

HE HAD SUPPORTED IMAMOGLU

According to a report by T24, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who gave testimony last Friday as part of two separate investigations on charges of "threatening a prosecutor" and "disclosing an expert witness," later held a large-scale rally in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse. Future Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Ali Rıza Abdik also attended the rally to support İmamoğlu.

A DIFFERENT STATEMENT CAME FROM THE PARTY

The day after the rally, the Future Party announced that Abdik had left his position as provincial chair. The party leadership denied the claims that he was dismissed, stating that Abdik had resigned "due to a heavy work schedule." In a statement released via social media, it was noted: "Our Provincial Chair Ali Rıza Abdik has concluded his tenure as provincial chair, which he has held since June 13, 2024, as of today due to his heavy work schedule, and has handed over the duty to our Deputy Chairman and Provincial Coordinator Mehmet Bekhan."

Although the party leadership explained the change in duty with work intensity, the timing of the departure following Abdik's support for İmamoğlu drew attention.
