İmamoğlu mocks Erdoğan: 'I am waiting for him to call me brother too'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu took a jab at President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over his use of the term "brother" for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, saying, "I am waiting for him to call me brother too."
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu criticized President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over his contradictory statements regarding Egyptian President Sisi at different times.
Stating, "I am waiting for him to call me brother too," İmamoğlu also reacted to Erdoğan's remarks regarding the lieutenants.
Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB) President and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu visited the Bilecik Municipality.
'I WOULD EXPECT HIM TO CALL ME BROTHER TOO'
Speaking at the opening of the Bozüyük War of Independence Memorial House and Observation Terrace in Bilecik, İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu said, "This nation knows how frequently your judgments and decisions change. What did they call me in 2019? Sisi was a murderer, right? And my name was Sisi. Now what happened, brother? I would expect him to call me brother too, right!"
İmamoğlu also reacted to President Erdoğan, who targeted the lieutenants.
REACTION TO ERDOĞAN REGARDING 'LIEUTENANTS'
Speaking about the lieutenants who have been on the agenda with their oath featuring the slogan "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal," the İBB Mayor said, "It is impossible to understand taking such a harsh and intolerant stance on an issue where they cannot even reach a consensus within their own party."
İmamoğlu used the expressions, "What is the effort to find ulterior motives behind expressing respect for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk? Let us tell those who do not know: Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is the common value of 86 million."
Continuing his speech, İmamoğlu addressed the lieutenants, saying, "Continue to say 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal.' Coups, interests... get out of here."
