İmamoğlu reacts to second arrest warrant for Şahan: 'The goal is to avoid offending the ruling partner...'

CHP presidential candidate and IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained at Silivri Prison since March 23, made harsh statements regarding the second arrest warrant issued for Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan.

İmamoğlu emphasized that Şahan is being unjustly held in prison as part of an investigation into the IMM.

In a statement made via social media, İmamoğlu said, "The goal is to keep my colleague Resul Emrah Şahan in prison unjustly without offending the ruling partner. This situation has nothing to do with justice."

Stating that Turkey wakes up to a new injustice every day, İmamoğlu noted that Şahan has been detained for six months on baseless allegations. "Immediately after your ruling partner stated that these accusations were invalid, the prosecutor's office arrested Şahan again," İmamoğlu said.

Furthermore, criticizing the operation targeting Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, İmamoğlu remarked, "While hundreds of people who are victims in prisons are waiting for indictments, another one of our mayors had his home raided."

Continuing his criticism of the government, İmamoğlu said, "No matter what you do, the rule of law will prevail in Turkey. We will build a country where young people are hopeful, families are happy, and retirees are comfortable, together with our nation," emphasizing that this path will lead to the nation's victory.

Following Şahan's arrest, while hundreds of people who are victims in prisons are waiting for indictments, another one of our mayors' homes was raided at dawn.
