Beyoğlu's CHP Mayor İnan Güney has become the center of attention due to a strategic move he made while in custody. Anticipating that he would be detained, Güney had reports prepared containing allegations of irregularities regarding the previous AKP municipal administrations and kept these documents in his office.

Güney's plan was to ensure that if he were detained, these documents would be found by the police and entered into official records. Indeed, these files were seized during the police search and recorded in the minutes. This development ensured that the documents entered the prosecutor's office records.

In the past, corruption files prepared by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality regarding the AKP era had been blocked by the Ministry of Interior. Güney's move is considered a clever step to overcome a similar obstruction.

CHP members began sharing these corruption files with the public starting in the morning hours. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel brought the issue to the agenda, drawing attention to the content of the files. In a statement made by the prosecutor's office in the afternoon, it was announced that an independent investigation had been launched regarding the files.

Speaking at a rally held in Beyoğlu yesterday evening, Özgür Özel praised this strategic move by İnan Güney, stating, "İnan Güney handed over the corruption documents of the previous AK Party municipality to the police like a gift package. The documents are with the police, with the prosecutor's office!"
