İnan Güney's jab at the vote in Beyoğlu Municipal Council: 'You were slapped by the ballot box'
In the vote held at the Beyoğlu Municipal Council, CHP member Sefer Karaahmetoğlu was elected as deputy mayor. This development came to the fore with the criticisms directed at the AKP by the detained Mayor İnan Güney.
In the vote held at the Beyoğlu Municipal Council, CHP candidate Sefer Karaahmetoğlu prevailed over the AK Party's candidate and was appointed as deputy mayor.
The CHP's majority in the council was instrumental in Karaahmetoğlu's election.
Following this development, the detained Mayor of Beyoğlu, İnan Güney, issued harsh criticisms of the AK Party via social media.
In his post, Güney stated, "The AKP, which thought it could obtain through dirty bargaining the authority it could not win at the ballot box, has received a lesson in democracy."
He also thanked his party members in the council and the people of Beyoğlu, saying, "The rights of Beyoğlu are entrusted to you."
It was reported that while İnan Güney's judicial process continues, Sefer Karaahmetoğlu will continue to serve as deputy mayor.
This situation has reshaped the political balance in Beyoğlu.
