Indictment against Ümit Özdağ over remarks about HDP MP: New investigation

An indictment has been filed against Ümit Özdağ due to remarks he made about 27th Term HDP Istanbul MP Ali Kenanoğlu during his own time as a member of parliament.

"ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ HAS BECOME A DEFENDANT AGAIN"

Ümit Özdağ's lawyer, Paşa Büyükkayaer, announced the indictment filed against Özdağ on his social media account.

Stating that the indictment was prepared without even taking Ümit Özdağ's defense, Büyükkayaer reacted to the indictment by saying, "You read that right: HDP is the complainant, Ümit Özdağ has become a defendant again."

"ENEMY CRIMINAL LAW CONTINUES TO BE APPLIED TO ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ"

In his post on the social media platform X, Büyükkayaer said the following:

"You read that right: HDP is the complainant, Ümit Özdağ has become a defendant again. Enemy criminal law continues to be applied to our Chairman, Mr. Ümit Özdağ. An indictment was filed against the Chairman without even taking his defense.

We are not afraid of either HDP/DEM, the puppet of imperialism, or the freak mentality that protects it!

If we bow down to you, may being Turkish be forbidden to us!

As our Chairman also said, 'HDP/DEM is an anti-Turkish structure whose top-level administrators mostly consist of people of Armenian origin. They are the enemy and must be treated as the enemy.'

WHAT DID ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ SAY?

The prepared indictment included the following remarks made by Ümit Özdağ to Ali Kenanoğlu: "Ali efendi, believe me, it was never a problem. We have broken the so-called unbending necks of the dogs of imperialism, and we will break them again. HDP is a structure that is more hostile to Turkey than Greek or Bulgarian racist parties. Most of its top administrators are of Armenian origin. They are the enemy and must be treated as the enemy."
