Interesting election campaign from an AKP candidate in İzmir: 'I am not asking for votes for the AK Party, I am asking for votes for Murat Gökçekaya'

Continuing their local election campaign, AKP's candidates in İzmir are conducting their efforts without highlighting their party.

While the AKP logo is not being used in the election campaign of the People's Alliance's İzmir candidate Hamza Dağ, a similar practice is being carried out by AKP Çiğli Mayoral candidate Murat Gökçekaya. Gökçekaya's use of his own business logo instead of the party logo, effectively turning his election campaign into a brand advertisement, has drawn reactions.

AKP council member candidate Harbi Kurt entered an apartment building in Çiğli to distribute Murat Gökçekaya's brochures. A retired teacher who told Kurt that she would not vote for the AKP said, “I will not vote for the AK Party, excuse me, but I suppose you don't see the state of Turkey? As a teacher, I taught for 20 years and I receive a salary of 10 thousand liras. If it weren't for my son, I would be destitute.”

Responding to the retired teacher, AKP's Kurt said, “You won't vote for the AK Party, sister, you will vote for Murat Gökçekaya personally. You are an educator; it would be unfair for me to give you information or show you the way, you are already a well-equipped person. It would be presumptuous to show you the way. You are absolutely right about retirees, you are one million percent right. The current mayor isn't doing anything for retirees either, but do you know what Murat Gökçekaya will do? He will do landscaping, he will fix the parks and roads. He will build nurseries and get rid of the smell of garbage,” he stated.
