A new statement regarding the crisis in the CHP following the "absolute nullity" decision has come from Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Çiftçi made assessments regarding the background of the police intervention carried out at CHP Headquarters.

"THEY ENTERED AT THE REQUEST OF THE KILIÇDAROĞLU ADMINISTRATION"

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi said that police teams entered the CHP Headquarters building upon the request of the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu administration.

In his statement, Çiftçi said, "The plaintiffs and defendants could not reach an agreement among themselves. We were in dialogue with the CHP administration until the very last moment."

LAWYER CELAL ÇELİK HAD SUBMITTED TWO SEPARATE PETITIONS

It was reported that following the "absolute nullity" decision regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer, Celal Çelik, had submitted two separate petitions to the Ankara Provincial Police Department on May 23 and 24.

It was stated that the petitions in question requested that "necessary procedures be carried out" at the CHP Headquarters.

ANKARA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE HAD ANNOUNCED THAT INSTRUCTIONS WERE GIVEN

During the process, the Ankara Governor's Office also issued a statement on the matter.

In the Governor's Office statement, it was noted that upon the application of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer, Celal Çelik, instructions were given to the Ankara Police Department for the handover of the CHP Headquarters.

PEPPER SPRAY AND PLASTIC BULLETS WERE USED DURING THE POLICE INTERVENTION

Following these developments, police teams intervened at the CHP Headquarters building.

It was reported that doors were broken during the intervention and that security forces entered the building using significant amounts of pepper spray and plastic bullets.

It was stated that tension occurred in the party building following the intervention.

“NEW HEADQUARTERS PARLIAMENT”

It was learned that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel left the CHP Headquarters shortly after the police intervention.

It was reported that Özel moved to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with his accompanying group and stated, "The new headquarters is the Parliament" in his remarks there.
