Investigation launched into Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu

Ministry of Interior civil inspectors completed the investigation they launched at Tunceli Municipality last December in June. The investigation determined that during the term of Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, who was elected Mayor from the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), 145 workers were hired irregularly, resulting in public financial loss.

PUBLIC LOSS AND CRIMINAL COMPLAINT

According to the inspectors' findings, the expenses for these workers amounted to 84 percent of the municipality's revenue. Consequently, a total surcharge of 86 million 620 thousand liras was issued against Maçoğlu, and a criminal complaint was filed with the Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

OBJECTION REJECTED

Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu filed an objection by submitting a petition to Tunceli Municipality. Following an examination by Deputy Mayor Şefik Aygöl, Maçoğlu's objection was rejected.

An investigation by the Provincial Directorate of İŞKUR also determined that 145 workers were hired between 2019 and 2024 without any public job postings. A total fine of 500 thousand liras was imposed on the municipal company, and a warning was issued to ensure public announcements are made for future hiring. The objection to the fine imposed on the municipality was also rejected by the Tunceli Criminal Court of Peace.

SURCHARGES FOR OTHER MAYORS

The investigation also determined that a surcharge of 2 million 84 thousand liras was issued against DEM Party member Cevdet Konak, who was replaced by a trustee, for rehiring 8 workers who had been dismissed during the previous trustee period, and a surcharge of 3 million 206 thousand liras was issued against Ali İhsan Bayır, who served as acting mayor during Maçoğlu's candidacy for Kadıköy Mayor in Istanbul, for granting high salary increases in a collective bargaining agreement.
