The house arrest sentence of İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa, who was detained and placed under house arrest during the second wave of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), has been lifted.

İSKİ General Manager Başa was taken into custody on April 26, 2025, as part of the operations targeting the İBB.

HE HAD BEEN UNDER HOUSE ARREST FOR 210 DAYS

Despite health issues and being held in custody under long, unfavorable conditions, the court issued a "house arrest" decision for Başa on April 30.

Following the decision, Başa was kept under house arrest for 210 days. The Probation Bureau notified Başa that his house arrest had been lifted. It was stated that Başa's lawyers had recently applied to the Constitutional Court (AYM) with a request to have the house arrest decision overturned.
