The government's promise made before the May 14-28 elections that "interviews will be abolished" was shelved following the appointment of Yusuf Tekin to the Ministry of National Education.

According to the report in BirGün; Minister Tekin filed a complaint against Education Expert Ali Taştan due to his article titled, "What is the reason for Yusuf Tekin's insistence on interviews? How did the person who brought interviews to the Ministry deprive thousands of people of their rights?"

"I WROTE EVERYTHING ACCURATELY AND COMPLETELY"

While Taştan gave his statement within the scope of the investigation, it was learned that an access ban had previously been issued by the court regarding the article.

Evaluating Minister Tekin's complaint to BirGün, Taştan said, "In my article, I wrote everything regarding Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin's previous actions accurately and completely. The Minister complained about me and had a publication ban placed on the article because he does not want criticism or his mistakes to be brought to the agenda. The Minister does not want the truth to be heard. I will continue to write the truth and follow the education system closely. Minister Tekin filing a lawsuit will not cause me to remain silent."

"THE PRACTICE WAS CRITICIZED"

In his statement, Taştan said, "The Minister stated that in the new system, KPSS scores would have no effect on appointments, and that KPSS and interviews would each have a 50 percent impact. Contrary to the Minister's statement, my article focused on the fact that the written exam scores of 1,709 branch managers recruited during his time as undersecretary were disregarded and they were appointed solely based on interview scores, and that thousands of people were treated unfairly in the past; the practice was criticized in this regard. The issue of interviews in teacher recruitment has occupied the public agenda for years. There have been processes where even those who ranked first in the KPSS were not appointed. Therefore, it is a situation that concerns approximately one million teachers in our country who are waiting for an appointment."

Emphasizing in his statement that it is known by the entire public that arbitrary practices occur in interviews applied for teacher recruitment, that no objective evaluation is made, and that there is not even a camera recording, Taştan said, "The Minister's statement that 'we will conduct interviews like interviews' also made previous interviews controversial, and therefore this situation has closely concerned the country and the education agenda. My article, which is the subject of the complaint, concerns approximately 1 million teachers who have not been appointed. Therefore, it is clear that the subject of the article concerns the interests of the public, and thus there is a public benefit."
