Another resignation... İYİ Party Aydın Provincial Chair Recep Taner steps down
İYİ Party Aydın Provincial Chair Recep Taner has resigned from his position to run as a mayoral candidate for the Efeler district.
Resignations continue in the İYİ Party among provincial and district chairs, as well as board members, who wish to run for mayor or municipal council membership in the 2024 local elections.
''I COULD NOT BE A CANDIDATE BECAUSE OUR PARTY DID NOT FIELD ONE''
İYİ Party Aydın Provincial Chair Recep Taner has also resigned from his party post to seek the nomination for Efeler Mayor. Stating that he had also resigned to run for Efeler Mayor in the 2014 and 2019 elections, Recep Taner said, "We lost the 2014 elections by a small margin. In 2019, because we were in an alliance, our party did not field a candidate, so I could not run. In this election, our party will enter the race with its own candidate. I have stepped down from my provincial chair position to once again seek the nomination for Efeler Mayor. May it be for the best."
