İYİ Party candidate Kavuncu clarifies his 'He is a good patriot' remark about İmamoğlu

Kavuncu first arrived in front of the Beykent PTT, where he expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.

Noting that Istanbul is an earthquake zone, Kavuncu said, "Unfortunately, a very serious disaster awaits us here as well. Because the necessary actions have not been taken over the last 25-30 years, 600 thousand residences and nearly 3 million of our citizens are facing earthquake risk today. To overcome this, the municipality and the government must join hands and resolve the process."

Kavuncu later visited the International 2024 Tourism and Travel Fair (EMİTT) held at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center.

During his visit to the İBB stand there, Kavuncu was offered coffee. Kavuncu then toured the stands of Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, and many Turkish provinces to gather information.

Kavuncu subsequently visited Polat Tekstil in Avcılar, followed by a visit to the Gürpınar Thracians and Rumelians Association. Speaking at the association, Kavuncu stated that there is a necessity for the municipality and the government to work together.

"HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT WHILE BEING A CANDIDATE"

Stating that his remark from 3 years ago calling Ekrem İmamoğlu "a good patriot" is being broadcast repeatedly, Kavuncu said:

"They say, how can you say that while being a candidate? If you are against them, you are expected to call the other side a potential traitor, call them 'zillet' (humiliation), and insult them. Among the political parties we oppose or are currently in competition with, there are those we are angry with and those we criticize, but we see that all of them are making an effort to do something for this country. Right or wrong."

Expressing that when they acted independently in local elections, opposition channels began to defend them, Kavuncu said, "But this time, the other side has started to bash us."

Stating that they thank everyone who has contributed to Istanbul, from Kadir Topbaş to Ekrem İmamoğlu, Kavuncu argued, however, that they would do much better for Istanbul.
