İYİ Party's Ümit Dikbayır expelled from the party
A decision has been reached regarding Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır, who was referred to the İYİ Party Joint Disciplinary Board on November 22 with a request for permanent expulsion.
In the İYİ Party, the controversy that began with allegations that Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır—who was among the close aides of İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener before the May 14 elections—had illegally investigated the bank accounts of the Akşener family and Chief of Staff Esma Bekar, has resulted in his expulsion.
İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener had requested Dikbayır's referral to the disciplinary board with a demand for "permanent expulsion" last month.
On November 22, the İYİ Party announced that it had unanimously decided to initiate an investigation into Ümit Dikbayır, who had been referred to the Disciplinary Board, to request his defense, and to accept the request for precautionary measures.
REASON FOR EXPULSION ANNOUNCED
It has been learned that the İYİ Party Joint Disciplinary Board issued an expulsion decision regarding Dikbayır today. It was stated that the reason for the expulsion was damaging the party through the media.
Dikbayır had filed a criminal complaint against himself regarding four accusations, primarily investigating Meral Akşener's bank accounts and establishing financial relations with municipalities.
Dikbayır had also applied to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for the removal of his parliamentary immunity.
