İYİ Party GİK member announces resignation!
Following the arrival of the unofficial results of the March 31 Local Elections, an exodus is underway within the İYİ Party. After İYİ Party Head of Economic Policies Bilge Yılmaz, İYİ Party General Administrative Board (GİK) member İrem Yaman has also resigned from her party.
The İYİ Party, which decided to enter the local elections 'freely and independently,' did not achieve the result it expected on March 31.
The İYİ Party, which was only able to win Nevşehir at the provincial level, saw its vote share across Turkey remain at 3.5 percent.
The İYİ Party's nationwide vote, which was 9.9 percent in the 2023 General Elections, fell by 6 points.
Following the unofficial election results, news of resignations began to emerge from the İYİ Party.
İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener left the party headquarters after the results without making any statement. A statement from the İYİ Party indicated that a comprehensive evaluation would be conducted today.
The results brought discussions and resignations along with them. İYİ Party Head of Economic Policies Bilge Yılmaz called on Akşener to resign and announced that he had resigned from his party.
Yılmaz said, "These results have shown that we have a lot of work to do, and we have no time to lose."
İYİ Party General Administrative Board member İrem Yaman also announced on her social media account that she had resigned.
