İYİ Party Istanbul MP Nimet Özdemir has resigned.
In a statement made on social media, Özdemir said the following:
"I have left the İYİ Party, which was the starting point of my political life and for whose values I have fought a great struggle, because I have severed my emotional bond with it.
As an MP, I am aware that I am not only the representative of those who elected me or the citizens in my constituency, but the representative of all of Turkey.
I know that I entered this race to fight for solutions for our young girls leaving orphanages, our women who have to be both mother and father, our disabled citizens, and our stray animals, and that I won my seat as an MP through this cause.
Rest assured that I will continue my work to find solutions to the problems our citizens face, especially regarding the four topics I promised.
What is important to me is to defend my values and beliefs without compromising them. In my future life as an MP, I will continue to work with all my strength in line with these principles. I will not let those who voted for me down."
