İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu speaks: 'Those who never forget Gezi left Sinan Ateş's blood on the ground'

Party group meetings are continuing as planned. İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements at his party's group meeting. Dervişoğlu spoke about the hotel tragedy in Bolu, the reopened Gezi investigation, and the arrest warrant issued for Ümit Özdağ.

"THE PRIORITY IS THE RIGHT TO LIFE"

"As you are aware, exactly 78 of our citizens lost their lives in the hotel fire in Bolu Kartalkaya. They lost their lives in yet another preventable incident. Moreover, 36 of them were children. 36 of our children, who had received their report cards just a week ago and only wanted to spend their February break, have vanished. They showed no mercy to the poor. They were supposed to go to school on Monday morning; now they have been laid to rest in the dark earth. No death resulting from the negligence of administrators can be brushed aside by exploiting the sensitive emotions of society. Since 2002, the number of deaths resulting from administrative negligence, lack of oversight, or favoritism—which are covered up by calling them 'fate' or 'destiny'—is approximately 55 thousand. This number does not include those who lost their lives in earthquake disasters. As everyone without exception accepts, the human being is the most valuable entity, and the priority in state administration is the right to life.

For months, I have been thinking from this podium that this government is in a state of insurrection against the Turkish nation. Just as one person treats the state as their personal property and the nation as subjects. The issue is that those in power are willing to risk everything to remain in power, leaving 85 million in misery for the sake of one man's lifelong presidency. If there is a palace, to them, everything else is just a detail. What they call the homeland, their flags, and their political honor is the palace.

THOSE WHO TELL THOSE SEEKING THEIR RIGHTS TO 'TAKE YOUR MOTHER AND GO'...

These were the same people who told those seeking their rights to 'take your mother and go,' who scolded those asking about the future of their children, who acted as prosecutors in conspiracy cases, and who did not recognize court decisions when it did not suit them.

They are playing a very dangerous game; while threatening our nation by saying 'we will write you up if you take to the streets,' they are also provoking them to take to the streets. They are after chaos. I remind you, political history has shown that those who create chaos are buried under it. I warn the one who calls his own nation a 'plague.' You have forgotten the wisdom of the great Turkish nation. The price for this will be heavy.

The Republic of Turkey is the name of the state founded not by those who challenge their own nation, but by those who challenge the world. Reject unlawful orders; I am behind you to the end. Do not issue decisions that are incompatible with the law anymore, do not shed the blood of your own brother, do not stain your honor and dignity, and refuse to be an intermediary for this order. In short, uphold the honor of your profession and pay your debt to this great nation and republic that raised you.

THEY WILL ACCOUNT TO THE NATION

Let those who implement unlawful orders know that one day they will account for this to this great nation. I say it once again: do not obey unlawful orders, do not violate the law, and do not wound the citizens' sense of justice.

GEZI REMARKS

Whenever they get into a new state of panic, they think of opening old books. Because their greatest fear is a nation that speaks and reacts, those who never forget Gezi, which is a manifestation of this, and who do not let it go, left Sinan Ateş's blood on the ground. They rewarded the instigators with non-prosecution. They put our baby Sıla and our girl Narin in the grave. More than 53 thousand of our people died in the earthquake. Those who remained were left with their loneliness.

Today, this order, which writes indictments for Ekrem İmamoğlu, imposes judicial control on Hüseyin Baş, issues arrest warrants for Ümit Özdağ, and sends threatening letters to Müsavat Dervişoğlu, will sacrifice all of us to betrayal scenarios in the future if we do not put an end to this era. Therefore, the issue is not a matter of individuals, but a matter of the personality of the Turkish nation. We are facing a covert despotic regime that would make coup administrations look merciful.
