İYİ Party leadership candidate Mehmet Tolga Akalın makes a highly controversial claim before the convention! 'We have seen the tip of the iceberg...'
İYİ Party leadership candidate Mehmet Tolga Akalın has alleged that fake IDs could be used to cast votes at the April 27 convention.
The İYİ Party, which decided to enter the local elections 'free and independent,' did not achieve the result it expected on March 31.
Receiving 3.77 percent of the vote, the İYİ Party fell to the position of the sixth-largest party across Turkey. Following the election, İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, who decided to hold a convention, announced that she would not be a candidate.
İYİ Party leadership candidate Mehmet Tolga Akalın brought a striking claim to the agenda ahead of the April 27 convention.
"THEY MAY ATTEMPT TO CAST VOTES BY PRINTING FAKE IDS"
Claiming that access to delegate lists has been blocked, Akalın alleged that there could be an attempt to cast votes using fake IDs at the convention.
Speaking during a live broadcast on Tv100, Akalın said the following:
"I spoke with friends. I could not access that list. You have resigned from the İYİ Party and joined another party, and while a different delegate should be coming, someone else has been registered as a delegate, but the Turkish ID number does not belong to that person. We have seen the tip of the iceberg. They may attempt to cast votes by printing fake IDs. Our friends have identified this, and we have filed an objection. We expect the Election Board to do what is necessary. The birth dates, father's names, etc., of some delegates, including myself, have been entered incorrectly. The issue here is to cover up a covert operation. They will try to imply that it is a technical glitch."
RIDVAN UZ HAD ALSO BROUGHT IT TO THE AGENDA
A similar claim was also voiced by İYİ Party Çanakkale Deputy and Founding Board Member Rıdvan Uz. Claiming that the delegate list prepared for the extraordinary convention to be held on April 27 was tainted by suspicion, Uz submitted a petition of objection regarding the matter to the Ankara Provincial Election Board.
