İYİ Party loses 6 MPs in 8 months: How many seats does it have left in Parliament?

Following the May 14 General Elections, 1 of the 44 MPs who entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey from the İYİ Party was expelled, while 5 resigned. The number of İYİ Party MPs in Parliament has fallen to 38.

İYİ Party loses 6 MPs in 8 months: How many seats does it have left in Parliament?

8 months have passed since the May 14 General Elections. One of the 44 MPs who entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey from the İYİ Party has been expelled, while 5 have resigned.

Accordingly, the number of İYİ Party MPs in Parliament has fallen to 38. The first MP resignation in the İYİ Party began with the resignation of Eskişehir MP İdris Nebi Hatipoğlu. Hatipoğlu resigned from his party on November 2, 2023, and joined the AKP. Hatipoğlu was nominated as the AKP's mayoral candidate for Eskişehir.

MPS FROM 2 METROPOLITAN CITIES RESIGNED

The second resignation in the İYİ Party came from Ankara MP Adnan Beker. Beker announced his resignation from the party on November 16. The third resignation in the party came from İYİ Party 28th Term Istanbul MP and Founding Board Member Ayşe Sibel Yanıkömeroğlu. Yanıkömeroğlu announced her resignation on December 6, stating that her party had been moving away from its founding goals and principles for some time. On December 15, İYİ Party Istanbul MP Salim Ensarioğlu announced his resignation from the party. The most recent MP resignation came from İYİ Party Ankara MP Yüksel Arslan. Arslan announced his resignation from the party on December 21.

On the other hand, on December 5, 2023, İYİ Party Sakarya MP Ümit Dikbayır was expelled from his party. Thus, the number of İYİ Party MPs in Parliament dropped to 38.

NAMES WHO RESIGNED

Other prominent names who resigned or were removed from office in the İYİ Party are as follows:

"Mithat Solgun, a member of the İYİ Party Adıyaman Founding Board; İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Ahmet Zeki Üçok (removed from office); İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Ece Güner; İYİ Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Group Deputy Chairman İbrahim Özkan and 6 accompanying municipal council members; and former football player Gökhan Zan, who was the İYİ Party's 2nd-place parliamentary candidate for Hatay in the 2023 general elections."

Furthermore, resignations from provincial administrations within the party are still ongoing.
