İYİ Party's Kavuncu speaks out on 'fund crisis': A corruption case is being covered up

İYİ Party Spokesperson, Head of Parliamentary Relations, and Istanbul Deputy Buğra Kavuncu reacted sharply to the allegations that have come to the agenda as the "fund crisis" in a statement made after the Presidential Council meeting at his party's headquarters.

Arguing that the discussion in question cannot be handled solely under the heading of financial fraud, Kavuncu said that the allegations must be investigated along with their political connections. Kavuncu stated, "This corruption must be held to account."

Claiming that there has been no progress regarding the serious allegations concerning government circles, Kavuncu said, "How many days have passed, there is not a single development. A case of corruption and theft is being covered up."

In his statement, Kavuncu noted that the Capital Markets Board, Borsa İstanbul, the BRSA, and relevant institutions should be audited, and reminded that İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu had previously issued warnings on this matter from the floor of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

CRITICISM OF PARLIAMENT AND THE JUDICIARY

Evaluating the new legislative term, Kavuncu criticized the fact that the Framework Law was brought to the General Assembly after short-term committee discussions in the final week of the legislative term. Stating that the reputation of the Parliament must be protected, Kavuncu asked, "Why are we not discussing such an important issue thoroughly?"

Responding to the words of Chief Advisor to the President Mehmet Uçum, "It is a constitutional duty to protect the law of the President," Kavuncu said that the reputation of the TBMM should also be evaluated within the scope of constitutional responsibility.

Bringing up the operations against opposition municipalities, Kavuncu emphasized that the law must apply equally to everyone in investigations. Stating that images violating the privacy of individuals were leaked to the press during the operations carried out in the morning hours, Kavuncu expressed that the Ministry of Interior must explain who leaked these images.

Touching upon the allegations that have come to the agenda regarding the Central Referee Board, Kavuncu said that football-related institutions, primarily the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), must take responsibility. Kavuncu said, "All institutions and structures related to football, especially the Turkish Football Federation, need to resign completely."

Responding to a question from members of the press regarding inflation, Kavuncu stated that increasing the purchasing power of citizens should be the primary goal. Arguing that the burden of fighting inflation is placed on the backs of laborers and workers, Kavuncu drew attention to the need for public savings and structural reforms.

Kavuncu said that the İYİ Party will keep the allegations regarding the fund crisis on the parliamentary agenda and that they will not allow the issue to be forgotten after being talked about for a few weeks. It was also announced that the İYİ Party will hold a "Labor Workshop" in Ankara on October 10-11.
