Jacuzzi controversy continues

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s campaign director Necati Özkan had claimed that there was a jacuzzi inside the Sancaktepe Municipality building. The dispute has been taken to the judiciary. The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation.

Regarding the issue, AK Party Sancaktepe District Chair Turgay Akpınar made a statement in front of the municipal building.

AK Party Sancaktepe District Chair Turgay Akpınar said, "As of last night, there is the matter of a jacuzzi mentioned by CHP Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s election coordinator, Mr. Necati Özkan, in a broadcast regarding our Sancaktepe Mayor, Attorney Şeyma Döğücü. We felt a statement was necessary due to the claim that there is a jacuzzi on the mayoral floor of Sancaktepe Municipality. That is why we are here. The Sancaktepe Municipal Building you see behind us is a building completed in 2017 by our mayor at the time, İsmail Erdem, and offered to the service of our Sancaktepe people; the 4th floor of this building is the attic. In the attic, there is a space referred to as the mayoral floor."

Akpınar continued, “Within this space, there is the Sancaktepe Mayor’s office, the private secretary’s office, waiting lounges for our citizens, a 20-square-meter kitchen, and rooms used by consultants and advisory units. It is a space that includes meeting rooms. Furthermore, some parts of this attic are not very usable due to the slopes. In this sense, I am very curious about where Mr. Necati Özkan toured and where he saw a jacuzzi. You will definitely not find one. This is a situation where an attempt is being made to create a perception with this inhumane, unconscionable, and immoral approach, and with the statements of this friend, who is an advisor to the CHP Metropolitan Mayor, claiming it exists without even visiting or seeing the place. Therefore, we hope that these friends of ours will serve the people of Sancaktepe under the newly elected administration. But we also know that one cannot get anywhere with slander, immorality, reporting false news, and this mentality of 'throw mud and let it stick'."

"THE JACUZZI ISSUE WILL REMAIN VERY INSIGNIFICANT"

A statement regarding the jacuzzi debate also came from the newly elected CHP Sancaktepe Mayor, Alper Yeğin. Quoting Şeyma Döğücü's tweet, Yeğin wrote:

The dispute between the two parties has been taken to the judiciary. Şeyma Döğücü announced that the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation. Döğücü wrote the following:

"An ex officio investigation has been launched by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. I am also starting my necessary legal battle. I will stand tall against these trolls. The source of these lies, those who spread these lies, those who pay for advertisements to spread this vile slander further, those who spend the IMM's money on this, and all other operational legs will be held accountable before the law."
