President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated in his speech at the AKP Parliamentary Group meeting today, "We are observing with dismay the appointments of spouses, friends, and relatives in opposition municipalities."
Following these remarks, journalist Murat Ağırel alleged that the daughter of AKP member Turgut Altınok was appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a 1st-degree Ministerial Advisor.
Ağırel wrote the following:
"The President says we are observing the appointments of spouses, friends, and relatives with dismay. Aside from his own son-in-law and friends becoming ministers and bureaucrats, there is no problem.
All such unfair appointments must be canceled immediately, regardless of party.
For example, I am curious how Mr. Turgut Altınok’s daughter was appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a 1st-degree Ministerial Advisor based on Article 61/A one month ago."
There has been no statement from Altınok yet.
