Kılıçdaroğlu responds to SHP claims
Former Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, after visiting CHP Pınarbaşı Municipal Council candidate Şerafettin Bahadır at Kayseri City Hospital where he is receiving treatment, responded to claims that he would lead the SHP by saying, "The news about the SHP is fake."
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who visited CHP Pınarbaşı Municipal Council candidate Şerafettin Bahadır at Kayseri City Hospital where he is being treated for injuries sustained in an attack following the June 2 elections, made a statement upon leaving the hospital. Stating that there should be no violence in politics, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "I have always viewed politics as a field for competing in goodness. My thinking has always been this way, and I have taken care to keep it that way. There should be no violence in politics. One should consider the victory of a mayor and the subsequent celebrations as normal. However, it is never, ever possible to accept violence, especially violence at a level that would lead to a person's death. I visited Mr. Şerafettin. Thank goodness the doctors and their entire teams have shown the necessary care. He is in good condition; he will stay a little longer, but his being in good condition is our greatest consolation. If he had lost his life, this would truly have been a great tragedy. It is like a mental blackout. Applying violence to a person, escalating violence to a level that would lead to their death, is never, ever right. Therefore, I thank the hospital's chief physician and all the staff from the bottom of my heart."
EVENTS IN KAYSERI
Speaking about the events in Kayseri, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "The intense influx of Syrians into Turkey has bothered me the most. During my time as chairman, I promised that I would send all our Syrian brothers and sisters back to their own countries within 2 years, but I said that while sending the Syrians back to their own countries, I would do so while protecting Turkey's dignity and human honor. Causing internal conflicts here and applying violence against Syrians deals a blow to Turkey's reputation and prestige. In this respect, I do not find it right. On the contrary, our greatest desire is for Syrians to be sent back to their own countries through consistent policies to be followed by the government on this matter."
SHP RESPONSE
When asked if he supports the Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP), Kılıçdaroğlu replied, "No, sir. These are all fake news reports. There is no such thing, friends."
