Kılıçdaroğlu's former chief advisor becomes a candidate for Çankaya

Ekrem Kerem Oktay, who served as Chief Advisor for Economy during Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's tenure as CHP Chairman, has applied for the CHP Çankaya mayoral nomination. 

Making statements regarding his candidacy, Oktay said the following:

“Unfortunately, all our cities are under pressure from the climate crisis, ecological destruction, spatial, cultural, and demographic transformation, and loss of identity due to rent-oriented and short-term policies. Young people, women, and disadvantaged groups, in particular, are being affected by the ongoing crises to a much greater extent. As social injustice deepens, the public's right to the city is being violated, and the opportunity to live in peace and security is shrinking. Urban planning policies are important tools that strengthen social transformation through space. Our goal is to provide a strong contribution to the CHP reaching its goal of change and power in the new century under the leadership of the CHP's first Chairman of the second century, Mr. Özgür Özel, to bring Çankaya, which is a legacy of the Republic, to a point that serves as an example to Turkey with exemplary urban planning policies, and to produce a new model with the opportunities offered by the 21st century.”

"WE HAVE TAKEN AN X-RAY OF ÇANKAYA"

Stating that they have conducted comprehensive studies and research on the Çankaya Municipality, Ekrem Kerem Oktay said:

“With a very serious team and multi-dimensional research and studies, we have produced significant work. We examined all municipalities in 3 metropolitan cities, primarily 12 critical municipalities from 8 countries. We have taken an X-ray of the Çankaya Municipality. In light of the principles of participation, transparency, and accountability, we have put forward a breakthrough program from the perspective of smart management and smart solutions for the municipality to reach the standards required by the 21st century. We are not just promising projects. We are promising a project production factory. While implementing 23 smart urbanism applications under 7 main headings, we will initiate a movement of innovation in Çankaya in the second century of the Republic with projects ranging from science centers to ecological centers, from a digital library to the CREATE: Idea Workshop and Youth Center within the scope of 'Innovative Çankaya'.”

In 2016, he was appointed as the “Chief Advisor to the Chairman for Economy” by the previous CHP Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu.
