Kurtbaba runs for office in İpsala: 'When I become mayor, municipal buses will cost 1 TL'
Savaş Kurtbaba, a sought-after consultant for television murder and crime shows, has filed his candidacy for mayor of his hometown, İpsala, Edirne. The retired police officer, who submitted his application to the CHP İpsala District Presidency, said, "I served the state for 30 years. Now, if I am nominated and elected, I will serve my hometown."
Retired homicide detective Savaş Kurtbaba, who was part of the team that investigated and solved hundreds of murders in Turkey, including the high-profile Üzeyir Garih case, has submitted his application for the CHP mayoral candidacy in İpsala, Edirne, to CHP İpsala District President Mıstık AK. Stating that he has been a member of the Republican People's Party (CHP) for generations, Savaş Kurtbaba said, "I worked day and night to win Istanbul in the last mayoral elections, especially in Küçükçekmece, the district where I lived. One foot of mine was always in my hometown, İpsala. For the past 7 months, there hasn't been a shopkeeper or a village I haven't visited. After receiving positive feedback, I made my application."
MUNICIPAL BUSES WILL BE 1 TL, 50 PERCENT DISCOUNT ON WATER
Stating that his top priority is solving the unemployment problem, Savaş Kurtbaba noted that if elected mayor, he would turn İpsala into a European-style town. Kurtbaba announced some of his projects as follows:
"We will build a shopping mall on municipal land that befits İpsala, providing job opportunities for both our shopkeepers and our people. We will serve all our guests traveling from Europe and entering our country here. Furthermore, we will ensure that Greek citizens who come to shop and currently go to Keşan will shop here instead. We will reduce municipal bus fares to 1 TL. We will reduce water bills by 50%. By reaching agreements with village minibuses to provide support, we will ensure 3 trips a day, bringing our villages together with İpsala; we will provide service to our villages that do not have minibuses."
It was also learned that retired police officer Savaş Kurtbaba has come in first in polls conducted in the district.
