Mahir Polat, who was placed under house arrest, has begun his treatment

The treatment process has begun for IBB Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who was detained as part of the "urban consensus" investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and was released under a judicial control measure of "not leaving his residence" due to his health condition.

According to the report in BirGün, Polat began his treatment as of today at Maltepe University Hospital, where he had previously undergone an angiography procedure.

HE WAS RELEASED FROM PRISON YESTERDAY EVENING

Polat was released from the Marmara Closed Penal Execution Institution yesterday evening (April 9) following the judicial control decision of "not leaving his residence."

Making a statement to members of the press, Polat conveyed his greetings to everyone and used the following expressions:

"It is a difficult moment for me; my friends are inside and I am here. I just need to rest right now. I am very tired. I love everyone very much. I know that the conscience of this country has not ended. I don't know what people wrote. Because I couldn't even reach them, but I truly both love and trust the people of these lands from my heart. Much love to you all." 

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 29, Mahir Polat was taken by ambulance from the Marmara Closed Penal Execution Institution, where he was being held, to the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital. Polat, who was kept under observation in the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit, underwent an angiography. After his treatment was completed, Polat was discharged on March 31 and sent back to the penal institution.

On the morning of April 8, Polat was transferred from prison to the Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine for an evaluation of his health condition, and was taken back to prison after his examination there.

In the letter sent by the 11th Specialized Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an opinion was expressed that Polat should be referred to a fully equipped state or university hospital to undergo tests including 24-hour blood pressure holter and rhythm holter, routine biochemistry, thyroid function tests, hemogram, 24-hour urine protein value and creatinine clearance, as well as neck and abdominal ultrasonography (USG), and that the results should be sent.

The letter stated that there was no need for Polat, who was examined by the board, to be sent to the Council of Forensic Medicine for a re-examination.
