Major development in CHP convention case: Lack of jurisdiction ruling overturned

Major development in CHP convention case: Lack of jurisdiction ruling overturned

In the investigation launched regarding the 38th Ordinary Convention of the Republican People's Party (CHP), an important judicial decision has been reached in the case filed against suspects for allegedly violating Article 112 of the Law on Political Parties.

The case had been moved to the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance, but the court issued a "lack of jurisdiction" ruling and sent the file to the high criminal court. The objection filed against this decision by the Criminal Court of First Instance was resolved by the Ankara 3rd High Criminal Court.

JURISDICTION RULING RETURNED TO HIGH CRIMINAL COURT

The Ankara 3rd High Criminal Court, with its decision dated June 30, 2025, overturned the lack of jurisdiction ruling and ruled that the case must be heard in the high criminal court. With this decision, the way has been cleared for the suspects involved in the CHP's convention process to be tried under the scope of the high criminal court.
