Mansur Yavaş's 'Erdoğan' advice to Altınok: 'Go to the President and...'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş spoke during his visit to the Anatolian Organized Industrial Zone. 

Stating that retirees are struggling to make ends meet, Yavaş noted that as the metropolitan municipality, they are providing assistance to 50 thousand retirees.

Addressing his rival, AKP's Ankara Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Turgut Altınok, Mansur Yavaş said, "I would advise this: I suggest that he go to the President as soon as possible to explain the situation of the retirees to him and propose that they work to ensure they can live humanely."

"RETIREES CANNOT LIVE HUMANELY"

Explaining that retirees are asking for the return on their contributions after working and paying premiums for 30-35 years, Yavaş spoke as follows:

"First of all, I must say this: It would be beneficial for them to convey the situation of the retirees to the President, just as they have realized it themselves. But what is given to retirees is by no means a favor. What Mr. Turgut fails to see is this: retirees pay premiums for 30 to 35 years. In return for these premiums, they are granted a pension. It is not a favor granted by the state. While retirees used to be able to buy a house or perhaps a car with their retirement bonus, unfortunately, they have now fallen into a situation where they cannot even afford a tire. The money of the retirees has been squandered for years. What is the fault of the retirees in this? The retiree is not asking for anything extra. They are asking for the return on the premiums they paid to the state. Therefore, the retirees are quite right. They cannot live humanely.

"THEY DO NOTHING BUT PRESENT WHAT WE HAVE DONE AS PROMISES"

I would advise this: I suggest that he go to the President as soon as possible to convey the situation, explain the condition of the retirees to him, and propose that they work to ensure they can live humanely.
