It has been stated that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş will travel to Mersin to support Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer, who was detained as part of a "corruption" investigation conducted by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
As part of the investigation, 59 suspects, including Seçer as well as Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer, were detained on October 1.
It was reported that the questioning of Seçer and the other mayors began at 10:15 and concluded at 20:35. The detained individuals are expected to be referred to the courthouse following health checks.
The CHP Provincial Presidency has also issued a call to gather in front of the Mersin Courthouse. In the call made under the heading "Mersin stands by its choice," it was announced that supporters would meet in front of the courthouse to protest the detention of the mayors.
