Mansur Yavaş is causing 'difficulties' for the İYİ Party
It has been claimed that the İYİ Party, which rejected the CHP's proposal for cooperation in the local elections, is 'having difficulty finding a strong candidate to run against Mansur Yavaş in Ankara.'
The İYİ Party General Administrative Board (GİK) rejected the CHP's proposal for cooperation in the local elections by a majority vote.
Following the GİK meeting, İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener's statement that 'I will put Ankara to a vote again' stirred up the party's inner circles.
According to a report by Cumhuriyet, İYİ Party officials evaluating the matter stated that the party is having difficulty finding a strong candidate to run against Mansur Yavaş in Ankara.
Stating that the name of former CHP Chief Advisor to the Chair Cengiz Topel Yıldırım has been mentioned regarding the Ankara candidacy, party executives noted that 'Topel's candidacy was also discussed within the İYİ Party during the 2019 elections, but Yavaş prevailed.' While the officials pointed out that 'the electorate is satisfied with Yavaş's services,' they drew attention to the fact that if a candidate is fielded against him, news of resignations would likely come from many party members serving in Ankara's provincial and district organizations.
